The Caela Farmer FunD Fest 2003

A labor of love

The reason many of you are probably visiting Caela’s website is to learn more about the Caela Farmer FunD Fest 2003. This event is a reality because of the commitment and hard work of many special people in our life, from Caela’s speech therapist, who first conceived the idea of planning a benefit, to total strangers, many who are friends of our friends, who have lent their assistance to some of the behind-the- scenes effort. We know this outpouring of kindness will culminate in a celebration that will be an enjoyable and memorable event for all who attend. We hope that you will be able to join us on September 14th from 1-5pm at the Carousel House in Philadelphia ( directions available here) and become part of the community that is giving life to the Caela Farmer Bright Future Fund.

So where’s my invitation?

You’ve come to the right place - consider yourself invited!  Please click here to view the event flyer that explains the important details of the big day (check link on flyer for directions or click here). Feel free to print out this page and hang one on your frig or pass along a few copies...we're happy to extend the invitation to your family members, friends, and co-workers.  If after learning a little more about Caela and the benefit being planned in her honor, you would like to contribute to her fund, there are several ways you can do so:

Purchase tickets to attend Caela Farmer FunD Fest 2003
Purchase chances to enter the drawing for a week in Aspen, CO.
Send in a charitable contribution.

All of these options are available through our Donations page, as well as on the day of the event.  Donations can be made online through PayPal or by mailing in the online donation form with your contribution.   We truly appreciate any support you can offer.

A Week in Aspen, CO?

Yes, a very generous benefactor has donated a week at their timeshare in Aspen, CO! The lucky winner will spend 7 days and 6 nights in a luxurious condo that comfortably accommodates 6 people and includes amenities like a hot tub and a breathtaking mountain view.   The winner of the raffle will have the choice of three potential travel dates: a week in June, 2004, the last week of September, 2004, or the first week of October, 2004.  Everyone knows Aspen is an internationally renowned ski town, but it also offers great hiking, white-water rafting, biking, shopping, and world-class restaurants.  Please visit for detailed information about the accomodations as well as the town of Aspen.  Raffle tickets for this item are being sold for $25.00/chance and can be purchased now by going to our  Donations page and making an online payment through Paypal or by printing the donation form and sending it in with your donation. However, for those of you attending the benefit, this is only the beginning of the list of goodies.

There’s more?

Yes, there is plenty more. Thanks to the goodwill of individuals, businesses, and organizations from around the tri-state area, we have a growing number of unique and distinctive donated items and services that will be part of the silent auction and raffle drawings at the Caela Farmer FunD Fest 2003. Guests at the benefit can bid on the silent auction items or buy raffle tickets for the items they would like to win; all winners will be announced at 4:00pm.   If you would like to donate an item or service to help us raise funds for Caela, please email us at  For those of you joining us at the benefit, raffle ticket prices will be posted soon on this website, so keep checking back for more information and items newly donated for the auction or raffles. Thanks…

Not just another sit-down dinner

Quite to the contrary, a lot of planning is taking place to make this fundraiser a fun-filled-family-friendly-live-music-yummy-buffet kind of day. It’s important to us to give Caela a sense of community, to help her feel the love that surrounds her from all of the people inspired by her fighting spirit, so we’ve designed the benefit with that idea in mind. Here are a few of the treats that await our guests:

The Institute of Arts and Humanities Education, a collaborative arts education organization based in New Brunswick, NJ, has so charitably donated their artists’ time to lead family-centered art and music activities throughout the day. Having worked closely with this awesome group of people in the past, I can personally attest to their exceptional talent and their ability to help families have unique creative experiences.

Especially for kids, we will have a number of "fun stations" set up for their enjoyment. There will be face painting, balloon twisting, outdoor games, and kid-friendly raffle items. AXP of Drexel University has generously organized a team of its members to act as "station captains" and oversee each of these activities.

We haven’t forgotten all of the busy adults who’ve taken a little time out to help our family. Compliments of Susan Budenstein, free mini-massages, available from 3-5pm. Take a time-out and enjoy a little pampering!

Additional event highlights will be added to the website in the coming weeks.
